In this work, we present chirped photonic crystal (PC) structure for design of tunable multi-color infrared
photodetector. Using transfer matrix method absorption spectral response under the effects of different structural
parameters like material and thickness of top and bottom layers and defect layer thickness in defect based
structure is investigated. We study PC band edge effect on absorption coefficient and a significant absorption
enhancement up to %96 is achieved for defect based structure. Also, effects of different structural parameters
like material and thickness of side and central layer and side layer symmetry on absorption peak location and
amplitude are investigated. With increasing side layer number to 31 the filtering effect enhanced and the number
of absorption peaks increased to 7 peaks. In this manner full width at half maximum is decreased down to 36
nm. Using these results we can tune absorption peaks location with accuracy of about 48 nm.
